Audi RS6
Good news for our readers down under: the Audi RS6 Avant will hit Australia in July 2008!
The impeccable RS6 develops 426kw at 6500rpm and 650nm of torque, all of which is available at 1500rpm from its twin turbo V10. This enables the RS6 to launch from 0 - 100km/h in 4.6 seconds. A pure race bred ‘dry sump’ system ensures an enthused driver can throw the RS6 into corners at up to 1.2 G in lateral force without starving the engine and turbo compressors of vital oil lubrication.
The all new Audi RS6 Avant by AVUS Performance may not have the most aggressive look, however for a station wagon, its power numbers speak for them self. Naming it ‘White Power‘ may have not been the best title for the white RS6 because the German tuners are now receiving some racial controversy over the name. They recently released an apology statement saying it was a translation mix up by their editors and no racial harm was intended. Anyway, for a wagon the Audi RS6 Avant already has some decent characteristics coming from the factory with 580 hp and 650 Nm of torque. AVUS Performance still felt there was room for improvement so they installed a Sportec 2.7″ in diameter high performance exhaust system, racing catalysts, and re-programmed the ECU.
Which increased the horsepower to 700, and torque to 800Nm, with an astonishing 3.9 second 0-100 km/h. Bone stock, the RS6 Avant accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 4.6 seconds which is still decent for its size, but after the modifications it can reach a top speed of 340 km/h or 211 mph. From the factory it is electronically limited to a max speed of 250 km/h or 155 mph which is a big difference from what AVUS was able to produce. Some additional performance parts they added were new springs dropping the car by 40 mm or 1.6 inches. For the looks, large 22 inch Sportec Mono 10-spoke alloy wheels are fitted nicely, with a carbon fiber front lip and rear diffuser as well.
